The Centre for the Evaluation of Complexity Across the Nexus (CECAN) has been funded by BEIS, DEFRA, the Environment Agency, ESRC, the Food Standards Agency and NERC with the aim of transforming the evaluation of policy across the energy-environment-food nexus to make it fit for a complex world.
The Centre is working closely with these and other agencies and with evaluation practitioners to develop, implement and test new methods, tools and techniques for policy evaluation.
The Centre is a multi-million pound project involving 8 UK universities, one in Europe and one in the US, and 5 companies and institutes, as well as a potentially large group of individual Fellows. It was established in March 2016 with funding for an initial three years.
In order to establish and maintain close relations between the Centre and its stakeholders, we are seeking a 'Knowledge Integrator’.
This role is crucial to the success of the Centre, and involves being responsible for ensuring that the Centre is responsive to stakeholders' needs and constraints and that potential users are aware of the work being done within the Centre.
It would suit someone who has a background in the social sciences, experience of working in government social research, excellent communication skills and the ability to provide an effective bridge between the Centre's researchers, evaluation practitioners and policy users.
This is a fixed term position until 31st August 2018. The post will be located within the Department of Sociology at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK, but will involve frequent visits to the co-funding agencies (BEIS, DEFRA, EA, FSA). Informal enquiries about the post may be made to Professor Nigel Gilbert, firstname.lastname@example.org.
