About the seminar:
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by the United Nations in 2015 puts follow-up and review processes at the heart of global and national efforts to achieve the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It says the follow-up and review processes will be informed by country-led evaluations and data which is high-quality, accessible, timely and reliable.
Stefano D’Errico, will be talking about the role and current use of evaluation in assessing the SDGs and will present findings from research conducted by IIED and EVALSDGs on M&E processes reported by the Voluntary National Reviews submitted by 64 countries to the High Level Political Forum in 2016 and 2017.
About the speaker:
Stefano D’Errico is the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning Lead at the International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), advocacy lead of the international network EVALSDGs, Head of professionalisation at the European Evaluation Society, and council member of the United Kingdom Evaluation Society (UKES). In his career he has led evaluations as an independent consultant; developed M&E systems for international NGOs, funders and thinks tanks; and written the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning strategy of Comic Relief and IIED. Stefano is the project lead and one of the authors of the internationally acclaimed briefing series: Effective Evaluation for the SDGs
