CECAN Fellowship: Useful evaluation insights under different futures
Traditionally evaluation asks: has this intervention worked. The recent update to the Magenta Book places more emphasis on evaluation asking: how can this intervention improve (test and learn). With increasing uncertainty and rapid policy shifts even test and learn approaches risk being out of date and irrelevant quickly, and evaluators might what to ask: how will this evaluation hold under different futures? While some evaluations, research and other evidence may bide their time and be ‘dusted off’ when the conditions are right, I would like to explore whether and how evaluators could bring more deliberate future proofing into their evaluation planning and delivery. I will test if and how foresight techniques can be brought into or adapted to work as part of evaluation planning and delivery.

She has worked across government, charity and innovation sectors to strengthen impact measurement, evaluation practice and organisational performance.
